International Journalism and Communication, Advertising majors approved as 2021 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites

The Ministry of Education of China recently announced its 2021 list of national and provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, in which the Advertising and the International Journalism and Communication majors of the School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China were approved as 2021 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites.

Advertising majors train advertising communication talents with compound knowledge structure, comprehensive professional skills and excellent development potential. Potential employers include advertising agencies, the advertising departments of media corporations, and other organizations. Core courses: Communication Theory; Advertisement Planning; Media Strategies for Advertising.

International Journalism and Communication majors can accurately match the strategic needs of the society, and export high-quality external communication talents for the central mainstream media and related organizations, to train students with professional knowledge of journalism and strong foreign language ability. According to the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the Implementation of the “Double Million Plan” for the Construction of First-class Undergraduate Majors, the Ministry of Education has organized the declaration of national and provincial first-class undergraduate majors for 2021. After online declaration by universities, review by university authorities and recommendation by the Teaching Steering Committee of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the undergraduate majors of Advertising and International Journalism and Communication in our department were approved as national first-class undergraduate majors in 2021. Therefore, all five undergraduate majors of the School of Journalism and Communicationat Renmin University of China have been selected as national first-class majors, among which two majors of Journalism and Communicationwere approved in 2019. Besides, Radio and Television majorwas approved in 2020.
