Warm weather and picturesque scenery make the best time for outing and tree planting. The School of Journalism and Communication (SJC) of Renmin University of China (RUC) and the School of Astronautics (SA) of Beihang University (BU) jointly held a social event of tree planting and sightseeing with the theme of "Plant and Visit Together with You" in Shengquan Mountain on May 15, so as to build a platform and bridge for students of the two universities to make friends. The event was jointly organized by the Graduate’s Union of SJC and SA.

At 9 a.m. on May 15, the students gathered outside the west gate on schedule and got prepared before boarding the bus. It took more than an hour’s drive to arrive at Shengquan Mountain in the outskirts of Beijing.

Located in Huairou District, Beijing, Shengquan Mountain is close to a reservoir in the front and backed by Yanshan Mountain. With lush green and scenic beauty, it is an important ecological barrier of Beijing. Along the way, the students were greeted with lucid water and lush mountains as high-rise buildings gradually fade away. Flowers in full bloom and the running water gurgling, everyone was infected by the tantalizing spring with a deeper realization of the great significance of the construction of ecological civilization and couldn't wait to participate in the activity of "making green".

  The exhausting bus drive was dwarfed by the exciting spring scenery. After a short rest and random grouping, the students got their saplings and walked orderly into the tree planting zone with tools like hoes, shovels and buckets.

The students cooperated well with each other, busily performing divided tasks of digging pits, supporting seedlings, cultivating soil, carrying buckets and planting and watering trees. After that, they hang on the tree the nameplates with blessings to the Party's birthday in token of good wishes and expectations.

At the spot of tree planting:

Firstly, get tools such as shovels and buckets.

Secondly, dig pits.

Thirdly, fixing the roots and cultivate the soil.

Fourthly, water and spade the saplings.

Lastly, leave messages.

Plant saplings in the vibrant spring and harvest a ecologically beautiful environment in the future.

After tree planting, the students hiked up Shengquan Mountain to overlook the breathtaking panorama of mountains and forests while expressing their great ambitions and aspirations.

The students of RUC and BU had supper near the scenic spot. During dinner, they chatted about school life and played games such as the Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow killing, Who is the Undercover, and Truth and Dare. In spite of meeting each other for the first time, they got along like old friends. The tree planting activity ended with laughter, and the trees on Shengquan Mountain will witness the long-lasting friendship between the students of the two universities.
