Since the new semester, the School of Journalism and Communication RUC has opened some public space in the Mingde Journalism Building to teachers and students.
Taking into account the needs of some students for online video exams and video interviews during the pandemic period, the college opened two conference rooms on the fifth floor, "Zihuating " and "Xifenyuan" to students on March 4. Students only need to make an appointment in the 502 Office of Mingde Journalism Building, then they can use the two conference rooms, which was only accessible to teachers before.
The Documentary Center of the School of Journalism reopened on March 15. For the purpose of Covid-19 prevention, the center temporarily limits the number of entering people. The Center is open for up to 14 hours a day (8:00-22:00). Teachers and students are asked to wear masks, take temperatures and sit separately when in the there.
The "Teacher Development Center" on the 6th floor of Mingde Journalism Building has gradually changed from "a center for teachers' work and entertainment" to a place for teachers and students to discuss and communicate with each other. There are many books on journalism and communication and free coffee. So, many students like to read and study here.
The school has formulated a renovation plan for the 2nd and 3rd floors of Mingde Journalism Building to provide more activity space for teachers and students. First of all, the school plans to replace the idle and old equipment in the experimental center on the second floor, and transform some experimental classrooms that have not been used for a long time into places for teachers and students to study and discuss. Secondly, public areas on the second and third floors occupied by sundries will be better used in the future. The school will introduce "removable silent warehouses” for students who need to study, and self-service karaoke kiosks for students who need entertainment.
