Wining at Final, SJC defending the championship in Football League One
The School of Journalism and Communication (SJC) played against the Business School in the Football League One Final of Renmin University of China, on the football field at 12p.m. April 12th with a 4-0 victory, defending the championship.
The starting line-up sent by our side was a four-three-one-two formation, including Hao Ziliang as the goalkeeper, Dai Shaofan, Lv jinkai, Qiang Shuo, Liu jia'ao as backs, Qin Shaohang, Dong Peijun, Xu Binhong, Cao Guodong as midfielders, Wenxi, Liu Xiangyan as forwards. This line-up has formed a tacit cooperation through numerous games before.
Zhou Yong, the Executive Dean of SJC, and Sun Quan, the Deputy secretary of SJC Party Committee, also came to watch the battle, cheering for students on the field.
SJC kicked off first when the game started with the referee's whistle. Through precise passing, our side had the ball in the beginning. After a few minutes of stalemate, our players' breakthrough in the upfield was blocked by the opponent. No. 16 Xu Binhong played a small-angle corner kick directly towards the door, hitting the goal post in a pity, leading the two sides to fight for the ball. Although Xu Binhong again contributed a good tackle, he failed to score.
The opponent formed a threatening array for the first time at the 12th minute, approaching our penalty area but cleared by our players in time. A players of Business School served a corner ball, headed clearance by our No. 23 Qin Shaohang. The possession came back to us after striving for the ball.
Qin Shaohang shot twice at the 16th minute, but the ball grazed out against the goal post. Although the goal was not scored, our players in the upfield achieved many effective attacks, putting great pressure on the opponent's back line.
Hit by the ball on his face during our next attack, the opponent's No. 8 fell to the ground. We stopped the attack and gave the opponent time to check the player's injury. Fortunately, he was unharmed and the game continued. Encouraged by the sportsmanship, they returned the possession of the ball, showing friendliness in the game.
In the following period of time, the opponent launched another effective attack, but the shot was not strong enough and the ball was caught by our goalkeeper. In the 28th minute, our players contributed a nice through pass. No. 23 Qin Shaohang volleyed straightly into the dead corner, winning the first goal and reaching a leading of 1-0. In the following time of the first half, the Business School fiercely attacked, but their attempts to shoot were all intercepted, reflecting our back's high level of defense. Our players scored a goal at the end of the first half, but it was judged offside and became invalid. The game went into the half-time break with a 1-0 advantage of our side.
After the half-time break, the teams changed ends. As soon as our centre-back appeared on the stage, he prevailed over the opponent from the very first encounter, and his wonderful tackle showed our momentum. In the tenth minute of the second half, Wen Xi overtook his opponent with his speed, then he passed the ball to find a gap at backfield. The player at backfield pushed a shot, and the score came to 2-0. With the coach's tactical adjustment and personnel transfer, players Yang Yulin entering the field substituted for Cao Guodong, Chen Zhuorui for Lv Jinkai, Wu Weimin for Qin Shaohang, Wang Yuhang for Qiang Shuo, Zhao Jiaqi for Wen Xi. Through our players' passing and dribbling, we firmly controlled the pace of the second half. Although the opponent tried to attack for several times,they were unable to deal with the tight defense of our back line.
In the 34th minutes of the second half, No.11 Wu Weimin scored from the left side, passing two players in a quick succession and taking a shot, changing the score to 3-0. Despite the considerable advantage, SJC players did not slacken off, and instead made several attacks in the upfield, and the opponent's back line seemed slightly overwhelmed.
In the 40th minute of the second half, No.11 Wu Weimin broke through on the left side and then passed to centre again, causing the opponent an own goal in panic and the score went to 4-0. Over the rest of the game, the two sides fought back and forth. The final score was fixed at 4-0. The School of Journalism and Communication defended its title with a resounding victory.
The football team of School of Journalism and Communication formed a strong front line and a tight back line throughout the match, the players firmly controlled the tempo of the game with a tacit cooperation, and many of them showed impressive dribbling and breaking skills. The football team of Business School also demonstrated a strong spirit and a high level of play. Two teams contributed to an exciting match for the spectators, and depicted the sportsmanship of "friendship first, competition second".
