In order to strengthen pragmatic exchanges between the media from China and other developing countries and enhance their understanding about China, China Public Diplomacy Association started to organize relevant media training and exchange programs in 2014, establishing the China-Africa Press Exchange Center and the China-South Asia Press Exchange Center.
In 2018, the project was integrated and upgraded to the China International Press Center (referred to as the "Center"), including five centers of Africa, Asia-Pacific (formerly South Asia and South East Asia), Latin America, the Caribbean and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
In 2019, School of Journalism & Communication of Renmin University of China undertook the fifth foreign journalists training program for China-Africa Press Center and the second for China-Asia Pacific Press Center.
