From May 21 to 23, 2021, Henan Zhoukou station, the third stop of RUC’s series of research projects, known as the history of poverty alleviation in the people's Republic of China or the 832 project, completed the research in Taikang county and Huaiyang district. Composed of 21 people from SJC (the School of Journalism and Communication) and SAE (the School of Applied Economics), the research team interviewed and recorded China’s great achievements in poverty alleviation in the way of oral history.
On May 21st, the research team of RUC arrived in Taikang County.
As reported, the five support model is an important characteristic measure in the poverty alleviation work of Taikang county. The so-called five supports are centralized support, joint support in the village, social support, family support and neighborhood support. Through these five elderly care measures, the problem of providing security for rural people in extreme poverty has been effectively solved. This research also focuses on local nursing homes, joint care points and other pension units.
The first group inspected the nursing home in Fucaolou Town, the social care center in the health center of Zhangji Town, the joint care point in Jizhuangju Village from Machang Town, Shuxinju nursing home and medical nursing home in Gaoxian Township on the morning of the 21st. In addition, the investigation team interviewed Wang Guoxi, Secretary of Taikang county Party committee, the elderly living in extreme poverty in joint care points and the families lifted out of poverty, in order to have an in-depth understanding of the local poverty alleviation model and the basic situation of elderly care service institutions.

The second group, led by Zhang Huifeng, Secretary of the Party committee of SJC, visited the e-commerce public service center of Taikang county to understand the specific measures and preferential policies launched by Taikang through e-poverty alleviation on the same time. The research group visited the mushroom production base and live broadcasting and delivery studio in Guluodong Village. The main products of Huarui agricultural and animal husbandry technology development Co., Ltd. in this village are a series of fresh mushrooms and deep-processing products, which are sold to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and other large and medium-sized cities in China. It has significant local economic, social and ecological benefits, leading the local villagers to get rid of poverty and become rich.

The research group also interviewed Meng Tao, deputy county magistrate of Taikang county, Han Yunan, the first Secretary of Qianhe village in Machang Town, Xie Tao, secretary and director of the Party group and director of the Poverty Alleviation Office, Li Kangmin, a helping cadre, and a number of poor households to further understand the important measures, lessons learned and practical results of poverty alleviation in Taikang county on the afternoon of the 21st and the morning of the 22nd.

The research group left Taikang County for Huaiyang District on the afternoon of the 22nd. The research group visited the public service center of e-commerce in Huaiyang District to learn more about the development of e-commerce poverty alleviation and tourism poverty alleviation in Huaiyang District, and interviewed Ma Mingchao, vice chairman of Zhoukou CPPCC and Secretary of Huaiyang District Party committee, and Wang Yi, deputy secretary of Huaiyang District Party committee and head of Huaiyang District government.
As reported, the poverty alleviation work of e-commerce is an important work in the region. Up to now, 386 e-commerce personnel of various types have been trained for more than 32600 person times, including 145 special trainings for poor households, 5320 poor households with filing cards, driving more than 7700 online entrepreneurship and employment, of which 372 poor households have also achieved employment through e-commerce, with an annual income increase of 300-10000 yuan per person.

On the afternoon of the 23th, members of the group visited Zhoukou Wande Food Co., Ltd. and Shizhuang site in Sitong Town, and interviewed Huang He, deputy head of Huaiyang District, Zhang Hua, secretary and director of the Party group of the Poverty Alleviation Office, and Shi Xingrong, Secretary of the Shizhuang Village branch, at the Shizhuang village comprehensive service center, to further understand the important deployment and specific results of poverty alleviation in Huaiyang District.
At the same time, other members focused on the development of e-commerce in Huaiyang county. The team members successively visited the local famous e-commerce brand modern educated youth entrepreneurship base and the peanut workshop operated by Li yanpinghua.

The research group came to the last national intangible cultural heritage transmission base for the disabled in Huaiyang District for research on the evening of the 23th. It is reported that the base mainly teaches reed painting, mud dog and paper cutting, and provides cultural education and skill training for disabled members. After the training, it provides them with work.
Pan, a member of the base, said in an interview that before entering the base, he basically lost his ability to work due to poliomyelitis and was idle at home. After learning reed painting skills in the base, he was able to earn more than 2000 yuan a month, which basically solved his personal life problems.

The first group of the third stop of the RUC School of Journalism and Communication’s "832 project" research group (Taikang county and Huaiyang District, Zhoukou City, Henan Province) is led by Party Secretary Zhang Huifeng and assistant professor Zhou Yushu. Doctoral students Li Miao, Cao Suzhen, Qin Yidan, Duan Shichang, Zhao Jiaqi and Ge Shurun, and graduate students li haokai and Yao Jinghong participate.
