On the afternoon of May 12, 2021, the evaluation meeting of the 2021 "Student Innovation Experimentation Program" of the School of Journalism of Renmin University of China was held in the studio on the third floor of Mingde News Building.
The project review session was attended by a total of 20 teams from the School of Journalism and Communication's 2019 and 2020 undergraduates to defend their projects. Professor Han Yunrong from the School of Journalism, Communication University of China;Professor Wang Jiahang from the Bright School of Journalism and Communication, China University of Political Science and Law;Associate Professor Zhang Li from the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University;Associate Professor Tian Li from the New Media Research Institute, Peking University and Associate Professor Yan Wenjie from the School of Journalism and Communication, Beijing Normal University served as the panel of judges.
Professor Zhou Yong, Executive President of the School of Journalism and Communication, Renmin University of China, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the experts and emphasized the great importance that the school attaches to the review of the Student Innovation Experimentation Program, hoping that the review by authoritative experts in the academia can provide students with a fair and impartial review environment and targeted advice for improvement. At the judging session, 20 project teams defended their projects in the order they were drawn, presenting their projects in terms of background, research content, research ideas, research significance, innovative features and expected outcomes. The applicants firstly presented their research plans and then answered the judges' questions on the spot. The judging panel gave scores based on the overall performance of the applicants and their research plans.
This year, the College applied for projects with diverse themes, innovative research methods and research approaches. The project teams adopted a variety of research methods such as questionnaires, interviews and field research, applying journalism and communication and other interdisciplinary knowledge to their research projects. In addition to the School of Journalism and Communication, teams also involved students from the School of Finance, the School of Statistics, the School of Marxism and the School of Arts, reflecting the interdisciplinary perspective of the project.

The panel of experts asked questions and made suggestions to the project team on the core concepts, research methodology, interface between research content and theoretical tools, research ethics, practical application value of the research, feasibility and other aspects of the project.

The "Student Innovation Experimentation Program" of Renmin University of China is implemented for all full-time undergraduates in the university. The activity aims to promote research-based learning and personalized training, and advocate innovative experimental reform with undergraduate students as the main body; it can fully mobilize students' initiative, enthusiasm and creativity, stimulate students' innovative thinking and innovative consciousness, and improve their ability of innovative practice.
