On the morning of September 9th, SJC of Renmin University of China and SJC of Minzu University of China held a signing ceremony to jointly build the schools. Hu Baijing, Standing Committee member and Vice President of Renmin University of China, and Zou Jizhong, Deputy Secretary of Minzu University of China attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Zhou Yong, Executive Dean of SJC, RUC, and Zhao Lifang, dean of School of Journalism and Communication, MUC, signed the agreement on behalf of their schools.

Zou Jizhong said that both RUC and MUC are from Yan 'an. The joint construction of both schools is not only an initiative of the "Yanhe Alliance" universities to start a new chapter, but also a collaborative innovation initiative of the two universities to implement the "Excellent Journalism and Communication Talents Education and Training Plan 2.0"，which was issued by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Education under the background of the construction of new liberal arts. SJC of RUC is the first higher education institution of journalism in PRC. It has been on the list of National "Double First-class" discipline construction, and has been in a leading position in China in talent cultivation, scientific research, social service and internationalization. It is hoped that the two schools will implement the joint construction, expand cooperation areas, jointly commit to the innovation of academic discourse system of Chinese journalism and communication, and train more outstanding journalism and communication talents who are politically competent and dare to take responsibility for the Party and the country.

Hu Baijing, vice President and Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Renmin University of China, said in his speech that two schools with the same origin are moving towards each other. Hu Baijing put forward three hopes for the cooperation. First, focus on the major and basic issues of journalism and communication and continue to expand the scope of cooperation from a broader historical perspective. It is hoped that the tradition of the journalism and communication discipline of RUC with a historical perspective can be combined with the tradition of the journalism and communication discipline of MUC focusing on ethnic issues so as to make more creative contributions to a higher level. Second, based on the principle of "fostering talents through virtue", we will carry out cooperation on projects that are beneficial to students, and share resources in the aspects of open classroom, mutual recognition of credits, brand activities, and development of talent training plans. Third, in order to find "common problems" and carry out scientific research, we need to focus on the "shared methods", allocate "common resources" so as to find a practical way of scientific research cooperation and jointly promote the development of Chinese journalism and communication.

Zhou Yong, executive dean of the School of Journalism at RUC, said that two schools could carry out concrete cooperation in three aspects: research, talent cultivation and faculty training. First, the research of Marxist journalism view leads to major problems and contributes to the construction of the theoretical system of journalism and communication with Chinese characteristics in the future. Second, we should cultivate more possibilities for talent training and cooperate in open classrooms, major bourses building and teaching reform. The third is to set up a stage for the development of young teachers through the mechanism of interactive exchange of teaching and scientific research, so as to promote the exchange of young teachers in research methods, research vision, research topic discussion and other aspects, and promote mutual growth. Zhou yong suggested that the two schools establish a regular working mechanism and have regular exchanges to implement their cooperation and jointly contribute to the development of journalism and communication of China.

Zhang Kun, Distinguished Dean of SJC of MUC, thanked RUC for its help and support. He said that the joint construction will effectively realize comprehensive cooperation, resource sharing and complementary advantages through the docking of majors, courses and teams, and will also promote the overall strength of journalism and communication discipline of MUC. It is believed that under the guidance and support of the SJC of RUC, the counterpart of MUC will make great progress and make greater contributions to the building of ethnic community of China and a community with a shared future for mankind.
