On November 28, the 2017 Short-Term Exchange Program for Pakistani Journalists was launched at the School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China. Nine reporters from Pakistani mainstream media would participate a 10-day exchange program in China. Professor Zhang Huifeng, Associate Dean of School of Journalism and Communication, and Professor Zhong Xin, attended the opening ceremony. Dr. Zhao Jin, Foreign Affairs Secretary of the School of Journalism and Communication held the ceremony.

Associate Dean Zhang Huifeng welcomed the arrival of the Pakistani journalists. Then he introduced the development history and characteristics of journalism and communication education in Renmin University. He also expressed his wish to promote the cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries together with the Pakistan journalist representatives.

Professor Zhong Xin spoke on behalf of the faculty. She said that Pakistan is China's old friend and she hoped that this project would enhance the Pakistani journalist’s understanding of China, including politics, economy, society and culture, thus promote the communication and understanding between the people of the two countries.

After the opening ceremony, Professor Zhong Xin held the first lecture of the exchange program, focusing on “China's Media Industry in Data” and “International Media Cooperation Model and Case”.

The Embassy of China in Pakistan cooperated with the School of Journalism and Communication of Renmin University of China from 2014 and launched the “Pakistani Journalist Visit Program”. It selected 5-10 outstanding media practitioners from the Pakistani mainstream media for a long-term training and short-term visits each year in China.

The press team from Pakistan will participate in various learning activities in Beijing and Shanghai, including: seminars on China's political, economic, social, and cultural development, and the Belt and Road Initiative; visit to China Radio International, Shanghai Daily and the International Channel Shanghai; research on famous companies and cultural centers.
