School of Journalism and Communication Hosts International Students on New Tongzhou Campus Tour
On April 12, the School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China (RUC) organized a visit to the new Tongzhou campus for 16 international student representatives. The event aimed to enrich the international students’ academic and cultural experiences while deepening their sense of identity and fostering a stronger sense of belonging. As part of this effort, the tour provided participants with an in-depth look at the strategic planning and ongoing construction of the new campus. The delegation was led by Zhao Jin, Deputy Director of the School’s Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, and Liu Xiaoyu, the administrative staff member from the Office.
Wang Chun, Deputy Director of RUC’s New Campus Construction Office, extended a warm welcome to the visiting students. He provided a comprehensive briefing on the campus’s development, covering its master plan, design principles, specialized planning frameworks, architectural concepts, and current construction milestones.
Students watched a documentary on the planning and development of the new Tongzhou campus and toured RUC Party Activity Center, where they reviewed President Xi Jinping’s key remarks from his visit to the university and explored the institution’s 85-year history.
During the tour, students explored key facilities, including a smart classroom demo unit, a faculty studio prototype, collaborative public spaces, the school's under-construction academic and office complex, and the Future Communication Center. The firsthand experience deepened the students’ understanding of the university’s vision and progress, leaving them inspired by RUC’s commitment to innovation and eager to witness its future growth.
The Tongzhou campus of RUC, a flagship project under China’s Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy and the construction of Beijing’s sub-center, was approved by the State Council following a review by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Guided by the principles of “green ecology, human-centric and culturally inclusive design, open collaboration, smart technology integration, and sustainable development,” the campus aspires to become a world first-class, aesthetically distinguished, and uniquely RUC-branded model for higher education in the new era.
