Aidan White, Director of Ethical Journalism Network from the UK, accompanied with Deborah Kelly, Head of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, Milica Pesic, Head of the British Institute for Media Diversity and Chen Tao, Director of the European Division of International Department in Chinese Journalists Association, visited the School of Journalism and Communication, Renmin University of China and had a warm communication with teachers and students on December 7th, 2016.
Deputy Dean of J-School, Professor Zhang Huifeng, expressed a warm welcome to the delegation from UK and briefly introduced the School on its history, faculties and departments. Director of International Affairs, Professor Zhong Xin, introduced the School’s international exchange programs.

Aidan White thanked the School for its hospitality and stressed that the two main purposes of the trip were to exchange views on the media and to seek opportunity for cooperation.
In the speech, Mr White put forward three solutions facing the challenging media environment, carefully monitoring media changes, upgrading journalists’ skills and enhancing global talks.
The two sides discussed the specific ways of cooperation and communication among countries in the field of journalism and communication. Participants also exchange views about improving media literacy, better ways of authenticity verification and the comparison between legal and moral regulations to news ethics.
