The 2019 New Year meeting was held on Jan.2 to review last year’s work and to promote the Double First-Class construction.

Faculties and staffs reviewed last year’s events and tasks, honored four staffs who retired in 2018 and memorized four staffs who passed away in 2018.

Work report about the innovative actions the school had taken to explore new era’s journalism and communication education had been delivered by Hu Baijing, the Executive Dean of School of Journalism and Communication.

The innovative actions which emphasized cross-culture and interdiscipline, includes setting up the "Belt and Road Initiative" Global Journalism and Communication English Master Program and Big Data and Strategic Communication Master Program, upgrading the experiment and literature center, holding forums on the development of journalism education during the 40 years since the Reform and Opening-Up, etc., paying great attention on the academic integration.

“The School of Journalism and Communication should inherit from the past and innovate in the future to make greater achievements in the Double First-Class construction”, said Wang Liming, the Executive Vice President of Renmin University of China who presented the meeting.

Four retired faculty and staff including Gao Gang, Yang Gangyuan, Xu Jianping and Cheng Ru, were honored by Zhou Yong, the then Deputy Dean of the school of Journalism and Communication and received thank-you notes and flowers from all the faculties. 

Memorial ceremony had been given to the four faculty and staff who passed away in 2018: Bao Hui, Zhou Jianming, Liu Zhongcheng and He Zihua, with respects from everyone.
