The School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China was founded in 1955. Since then, it has developed into a nationally-acclaimed institution of academic research, professional training and education reform in journalism and communication.
The school’s Journalism and Communication discipline is ranked as the first-class key discipline by the Ministry of Education. It has a national experimental teaching demonstration center, and a Ministry of Education key research base of humanities and social sciences, the Journalism and Social Development Research Center. The journalism and communication program has been persistently ranked as Top 1 in previous rounds of national disciplinary assessment organized by the Ministry of Education. It has been enrolled into the Chinese “Double First Class” discipline plan in 2017.
In order to advance the “Double First Class” discipline development, facilitate the future faculty recruitment and enhance academic research, the school is currently accepting applications all over the world for the postdoctoral positions listed below.
1.Postdoctoral Faculty Fellowship
Eligibility Requirements:
· Applicants must have received their PhD degree no more than 3 years prior to the start of the appointment from recognized universities in China or overseas;
· Applicants must have at least 1 publication in a SCI/SSCI/A&HCI/CSSCI indexed journal (as the corresponding author, first author or the second author with PhD supervisor as the first author);
· Applicants should be interested in and highly qualified for teaching and academic research.
Funding Amount:
· The fellowship funding amount follows the payment standard set by Renmin University of China.
Eligible Fields:
· Journalism, communication or other relevant fields;
· Computer science and technology, information science, statistics, psychology or other relevant fields;
· Law, philosophy, history, sociology, political science or other relevant fields.
2.Postdoctoral Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers with a Doctorate Degree Abroad (eligible for the Postdoctoral Faculty Fellowship at the same time)
Eligibility Requirements:
· Applicants must have received their PhD degree no more than 3 years prior to the start of the appointment from the world’s top 100 universities by overall impact or by subject;
· Applicants must have at least 1 publication in a SCI/SSCI/A&HCI/CSSCI indexed journal (as the corresponding author, first author or the second author with PhD supervisor as the first author);
Funding Amount:
· Each fellow is paid 300,000 Chinese Yuan every year. Additional research grants at the national, university and school levels are also available for application.

· Computer science and technology, information science, statistics, psychology or other relevant fields;
· Law, philosophy, history, sociology, political science or other relevant fields.
3.School of Journalism and Communication – Zhejiang Daily Press Group Joint Postdoctoral Fellowship in Media Convergence (qualified candidates can apply for the Postdoctoral Faculty Fellowship at the same time)
Eligibility Requirements:
· Applicants must have received their PhD degree no more than 3 years prior to the start of the appointment from recognized universities in China or overseas;
Funding Amount:
· Each fellow will be paid 150,000 Chinese Yuan every year. Additional research grants at the national, university and school levels are also available for application.

· Computer science and technology, information science, statistics or other relevant fields;
Job Description:
This fellowship supports research that focuses on the trend of media intelligence. The fellows are expected to expand the understanding of fundamental database for media data fusion, build taxonomy and database for mainstream media and explore the construction of accurate media distribution system powered by AI.
4.School of Journalism and Communication – Founder Group Joint Postdoctoral Fellowship in Media Big Data Analytics (qualified candidates can apply for the Postdoctoral Faculty Fellowship at the same time)
Eligibility Requirements:
· Applicants must have received their PhD degree no more than 3 years prior to the start of the appointment from recognized universities in China or overseas;
· Applicants must have at least 1 publication in a SCI/SSCI/A&HCI/CSSCI indexed journal (as the corresponding author, first author or the second author with PhD supervisor as the first author);
Funding Amount:
· Fellows will be paid with a competitive salary comparable to IT industry. Additional research grants at the national, university and school levels are also available for application.
Eligible Fields and Additional Requirements:
· Ph.D. candidates in computer science, mathematics or other relevant disciplines; priority given to applicants with machine learning or deep learning expertise;
· At least one year of experience in NLP, and familiarity with NLP techniques;
· A good understanding of machine learning, and problem-solving ability with NLP;
· Familiarity with Linux, programing skills in C, C++, java or python and prior programming experience; priority given to applicants familiar with TensorFlow and other python tools;
· Priority given to applicants with media big data research experience;
· Good English reading and writing skills; willingness and ability to carry out high quality research independently.
Job Description:
· Algorithm design and implementation for news text analysis and public opinion analysis;
· Research paper publication and patent application in relevant fields;
· Work planning, task assignment and technical guidance in the media big data research team;
· Research of trends in NLP, AI and related technologies.
5.Program completion and Faculty Recruitment
Outstanding fellows will be given priority in the faculty recruitment of the School of Journalism and Communication after passing the hiring assessment.
