On the afternoon of December 17, the 7th tour event, "Good Journalist tells Good Stories" was held at Renmin University of China, organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Cyberspace Administration of China, National Radio and Television Administration, and All-China Journalists Association.

Twelve outstanding journalists share the stories behind their excellent journalistic works based on their interviewing experiences. They used their stories to express their passion for journalism; they used their speeches to trigger resonance and pass on their journalistic spirit.

“Journalists are the disseminators of the Party's views, the recorders of the times and the watchman of fairness and justice“, said Zheng Shuiquan, the Deputy Party Secretary of RUC.

Zheng Shuiquan hoped that by listening to the stories of journalists, teachers and students can feel their enthusiasm for journalism, see their responsibilities and commitment, strengthen their ideals and pursuits, study hard, be down-to-earth, and strive to be good journalists that can satisfy the Party and the people.

Twelve journalists in turn gave inspiring speeches that combined their own journalistic experience.

Some reports tell touching stories of ordinary people in China's collective response to the COVID-19 epidemic. Doctors, nurses, workers and even ordinary citizens were united to fight the pandemic. Some stories feature prominent figures and their deeds in the fight against poverty. These journalists recorded these ordinary yet great moments with their pens and cameras, and their stories conveyed a powerful spirit of our nation in this era.

At the symposium, the journalists shared their experience and knowledge with the attending students and took their questions.

A student asked, "what makes good and valuable news content?" Reporter Pang Danyang said that a good news story is a hardcore, restoring wonderful events as authentically as possible. Reporter Sun Weishuai noted that the story need not be earth-shattering, that those small potatoes who have been neglected for a long time also have wonderful stories, and that finding small clues with great energy makes good content.

On the question of how to treat Ding Zhen, Gao Hang said, "Mainstream media focus on how such a character can drive the development of his hometown." From the perspective of external communication, Shang Yang believed Ding Zhen could become a typical figure of China's external communication, thus enhancing the external communication capacity of our media.

Some students asked about the process of integrated media reports. Shang Yang gave detailed and vivid answers citing his reporting on the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return.
