On the morning of July 24th, a signing ceremony was held which is about the cooperation between School of Journalism and Communication of Renmin University of China and the Convergence Media Center of Yan’ an.

In his speech, Vice President of RUC Hu Baijing rolled the clock back to 1937 and recalled how RUC was born in Yan’an in a war time, pointing out the close tie between the two counterparts in history. He shared three ideas about the cooperation. First, more efforts should be made by the two on the research of historical materials in Communist Party of China’s journalism and communication history. Second, SJC will indirectly contribute to the development of the Convergence Media Center of Yan’ an by providing expert advice. Third, teachers and students of SJC can go to Yan’ an in the future to conduct social surveys and field studies in order to know more about the past and present of Yan’ an, a shrine of revolution.

Yang Guangyuan, Minister of Publicity Department of Yan’ an Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, hoped to promote talent cultivation, industry convergence , and academic innovation through this cooperation. He said this cooperation would not only improve the work performance of the Convergence Media Center of Yan’ an, but also contribute to SJC’s scientific research.

Hou Zhongyi, Director of the Convergence Media Center of Yan’ an, introduced the process of the establishment and transformation of the center. Zhou Yong, Executive Dean of SJC suggested that the two counterparts should cooperate in the development of convergence media, talent cultivation and recruitment, digital memory program of Chinese journalism, research on journalism theory, and policy consultations to create the Yan’ an Pattern of municipal convergence media development. 

The delegation of RUC visited the New Media Center, Press Center, and Computer Room of Broadcasting Center in the Convergence Media Center of Yan’ an. They were also presented the usage of the application “I’m Yan’ an” and ‘XueXiQiangGuo’ and learnt about the development of the convergence media center. In the afternoon, they paid a visit to Yan'an News Memorial and the site of Shanbei Public School.
