Chinese Institute of Public Opinion of Renmin University is established, in an effort to advance the modernization of China's system and capacity for governance and build a good public opinion ecology.

As a university-level research institute, Chinese Institute of Public Opinion of RUC is responsible for the construction of new think tank of public opinion, the construction of teaching practice base and the cultivation of high-level management personnel of public opinion.

With the advent of information age and the Internet society, the ecology of public opinion, mainly Internet public opinion, has become the indicator of social development, exerting a profound influence on economy, politics, society, culture and ecological civilization.

Social public opinion is not only the object of national governance modernization, but the guarantee of it. Meanwhile, global public opinion has become an important external environment related to national image construction and the promotion of international soft power.

In the context of the modernization of governance, it is a responsibility for RUC to carry out research on major basic theories and frontier applications of public opinion and promote the ecological construction of national public opinion, as well as an important measure to promote the theoretical innovation of public opinion

Through the application of new technology and discipline overlapping, the institute will integrate research strength, build public opinion study with Chinese characteristics, strive to become a new education platform for speaking out and a new interdisciplinary platform of liberal arts, which actively respond to the Communist Party and government’s strategy.
