On September 26, 2021, at the closing ceremony of the second Beijing International Game Innovation Conference, Beijing Game Theory Research Center was officially established with the help of school of Journalism and Communication of Renmin University of China.

Under the leadership of the Publicity Department of Beijing Municipal Party Committee, The Beijing Game Theory Research Center was jointly launched by Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, China National Academy of Arts, and Communication University of China. The center aims to give full play to the resource advantage of uniting production and research, build a domestic academic research system in the field of game, and measure up to international standards in terms of content creation, content communication, function promotion, content integration and so on in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary manner. The move aims to help the game industry achieve development driven by top-level kinetic energy, and realize the organic combination of theory and creation. Han Xiaoning, Associate Dean of SJC of RUC attended the founding ceremony as the representative of the initiating unit.

The closing ceremony of the second Beijing International Game Innovation Conference announced a series of measures taken by Beijing to implement the requirements of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and released a number of achievements, including the announcement of the establishment of the Beijing Game Theory Research Center. At present, there are some problems in the game industry, such as lack of theoretical research and insufficient industry norms, which have caused strong social reaction and seriously damaged the social image of the game industry. As the capital region and national cultural center, Beijing will give full play to the advantages of universities in the capital, focus on the social problems of games, explore practical and effective solutions, and promote the healthy development of the game industry.

Wang Yefei, deputy minister of Publicity Department of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Director of Press and Publication Bureau attended the conference and delivered a speech. He said Beijing immediately implemented the clear requirements of preventing minors from indulging in online games, and formulated a special work plan, requiring game company platforms to strictly implement requirements such as real-name login authentication, the time and duration of services provided to minors, and standard consumption.

It is reported, in Beijing's Haidian district on September 24-26, the second session of Beijing International Game Innovation Conference, with the requirements by the central government as the core, is bound to implement the requirements of minors game addict prevention by the means of hosting the content management training of game industry, signing industry self-discipline, holding innovation game show. In addition, the conference will give full play to Beijing's advantages in game content production, channel construction and innovation, as well as the gathering of international corporate headquarters and rich experience in international exchanges and cooperation. The conference invited domestic research institutions, scholars from universities, directors of game publishing platforms, famous game producers, game technology directors, and representatives of game hardware manufacturers to discuss topics of common concern to the industry and provide new ideas for the innovation and development of the global game industry. The Beijing Game Theory Research Center, initiated by RUC, will take theoretical research as an important starting point to promote the healthy development of the game industry and provide theoretical basis for policy guidance.
